Let’s Talk Details: What to Wear Under Your Wedding Dress!

A common question we get with wedding dresses is “What on earth do I wear under it???” There are so many options out there but we just want to let you know this one AMAZING fact: our wedding dresses ALL have built-in structure up top. What does that mean for you? Basically, it means all our dresses have built-in bras, so there’s no need to stress about wearing anything special on top when you have your wedding dress on. That being said, there are a TON of options you can use if you want to add just a little extra support beneath your gown for extra wedding day peace of mind.

Option #1 - Nothing!!

Or maybe just undies. 😉 But girl, we don’t judge–you do you. With the amazing structure of our dresses, wearing nothing under your wedding dress is so freeing, and you will not have to worry about underwear lines or anything showing through.

Option #2 - Boombas

Boombas are sticky bra cups that stick to both your skin and the inside of your dress, keeping the fabric of your dress securely set in place All. Freaking. Day. Yep, we’ll admit it–we love this concept and we love it even better in action. Boombas are awesome because they provide coverage, support, and all-day comfort + relaxation knowing nothing will be slipping up top during your big day!! From ceremony to reception, Boombas will stay in place and keep you looking amazing!! Amazing, right??

Option #3 - Body Tape

Depending on the shape of a dress, some fabric will always feel just a tiny bit loose. This is especially true for open-back dresses, since the open back is–well, open–with limited structure to keep it from moving where you don’t want it to. If you want to eliminate any gaping you might be experiencing, you can use body tape to stick to the inside of your dress fabric as well as your skin. You can use this tape on the front or back of your dress to keep everything perfectly in place for all those gorgeous wedding photos you have planned!!

Option #4 - Shapewear

Shapewear can come in a variety of styles. Keep in mind where your dress starts and stops, has sheer cut outs, has slits, etc. There are many specialty styles out there for these things specifically, including styles that support low-back dresses without revealing the shapewear itself. Browse online through the million options–Spanx, Amazon, and Honeylove all have great options for your wedding day! Want a dress with a slit but still want to wear your shapewear underneath your gown? Consider trimming the leg off one side of your shapewear so you can still have that feeling of support while showing off your dress slit in style!!

Option #5 - Strapless bras

If you absolutely do not want to go braless, we totally get it! Our best advice is to wear nude-toned underwear beneath your dress–the natural instinct is to go for white, but a little known fact is that white actually shows WAY more than nude tones do beneath your dress. So to make your underwear practically invisible on the big day, make sure you’re wearing the nude tones that match your skin tone best and you’ll be good to go!!
