Do people actually find their wedding dress at their first appointment?
An absolutely valid question! The internet is a rabbit hole of information, some great and some not, so here’s our honest take.

How often do brides actually find their dress at the first appointment?
Honestly? About 50% of the time. Which is wild, because most brides walk in convinced they probably won’t like anything. And then suddenly… they love everything.
Instead of trying to find a dress they like, the job quickly turns into narrowing it down to one. And once you get to your final two, your gut usually kicks in. One just feels right. A little more you. A little more exciting. A little harder to take off. If you listen to your gut, it almost never steers you wrong.
Should I sleep on it?
You totally can. The honest truth is that for a lot of brides, the decision is actually easiest when you’re standing there in the dress, staring at yourself in the mirror thinking, “Wait… is this actually it?”
If you tend to overthink things, deciding in the moment can save you from the spiral of comparing photos later and wondering if Dress #3 felt better than Dress #5. Pictures are great, but they don’t capture the feeling.
If you’re someone who makes quick decisions and likes a minute to come back down to earth, grabbing lunch or taking a breather first might be exactly right for you.
There’s no one perfect way to decide. But we will say this: the decision rarely gets easier once you’re no longer in the dress.

But I’ll get charged for canceling my other appointments
Completely fair. Nothing kills a bridal moment faster than thinking, “Wait… am I about to get charged $100 if I cancel that other appointment?”
Here at Bella, if you find your dress but still have another appointment on the books, we’ll cover your cancellation fee for you. Seriously. That way you can make your decision feeling clear and excited, not distracted by a fee hanging over your head.
Plus, once you’ve found your dress, it’s honestly kind of nice to be done. No more appointments, no more trying on dresses you already know aren’t the dress. And it saves the next bridal shop from holding a spot for someone who already found their gown.
When you know, you know. And when you know, you get to just be excited from there on out. Which is exactly how it should be. ✨
Ultimately, you are in charge, take or leave any advice we give. You know yourself best. We just want to be as helpful as possible.
